The first meeting of the General Assembly of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) was held in the building of the Academy of Sciences in Lisbon in the Portuguese capital. The meeting was attended by the President of the Global Council on Tolerance and Peace, H.E. Ahmad bin Mohammad Aljarwan, Vice President of the Portuguese Assembly of the Republic Fernando Negrao, President of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences Carlos Salema, and another accredited ambassador of the Vatican States to Lisbon, as well as representatives of the UN and the organization, as well as of UNESCO and the Alliance of Citizens of the United Nations of London (UNACO), as well as a number of universities and individuals working in the fields of tolerance and peace from around the world.
