To the Muslim Community of USA

      The Committee of Interreligious Collaboration Center in Elbasan, with deep sorrow learned through the news media for the murder of an Imam and his assistant as they went out of their mosque yesterday evening, August 13, 2016, in New York.

   We express our solidarity and condolences to the families of victims and the community of Muslim believers for their humane and spiritual service, condemning with indignation these macabre murderous acts.

    We are concerned that these acts, however sporadic, create a heavy climate of opinion worldwide.

Believing in the aid of God, we know that the voice of reason is stronger hateful voices from any act of crime or terrorism.  Let us work together and use every tool to prevent the escalation of hatred.

    We pray that the Imam Maulama Akonjee, and his assistant ,Thara Uddin, may rest in peace. We wish that the whole Muslim community, together with all people in the world, find the strength to endure these challenges with solidarity and brotherhood , and hope to build a peaceful future free of the hatred that incites war and terrorism.

      We pray that God may be with us all.
