Starts the Project “Clergy Practicing and Boosting an Active Democracy in Community “

On 9/8/2018 we started implementing the project FUNDAK – “Clergy Practicing & Boosting  an Active Democracy in Community ” in 3 municipalities; Elbasan, Cërrik i Boldit,  (August 18 – April 19), with financial support from # LëvizAlbania.

The purpose of this project is to activate religious communities for the benefit of society and the community. Often politics excludes the citizen from decision-making, by not actively participating in social life. But even the citizens seem to have admitted this fact and are passive about any policy making they do not feel necessary to interfere or raise their voice even if they are personally punished.

The opening was moderated by the chairman of the Inter-Religious Cooperation Center QBNF, DR. Arben Ramkaj, who made a brief statement on the conditions and ideas urged by the Interfaith Committee to crystallize this project by giving the floor to the religious leaders of the region who argued the need and resilience this project offers. The attendees,; were imams, priests, dervishes and pastors, collaborators and representatives of religious communities, as well as other organizations of civil society, heard and appreciated the speeches of Muftiu, Agim Duka, Metropolitan Grace Andon Merdani, Representatives of the Catholic Community Don Giuseppe Degulielmo and Representatives of the Evangelical Alliance Pastor Ilirjan Gjoni, who unanimously emphasized the importance of such a project and their role in its implementation. Clerics stressed that it is important that the voice of citizens be raised in an organized way and heard and respected by the politicians and that the citizens take the brakes in their hands by becoming actively involved in proposals and account requests.
Further on, Sokol Lulgjuraj presented the detailed project and shared the responsibilities for ongoing activities.
